Nigeria's first standard gauge railway linking Northern Nigeria and South launches yesterday. The Itakpe- Warri railway is the first modern line connecting Kogi state in Northern Nigeria to Delta state in the South. In addition to ferrying passengers, the line will also play a critical role in transporting iron ore from Itakpe to Warri port.
